Bilingual Content Strategy & Design
Almaya is a platform that allows users to create “a digital Legacy: a private archive filled with content about yourself, talking and answering prompts and questions on six topics: History, Advice, Humor, Recipes, and Wisdom.” The goal of the app is to produce and share stories that are key to the heritage of a family, guaranteeing high standards on their privacy settings.
Last year they needed a script writer to make some promos and explainer videos, and their Founder & CEO Martín Kogan called me because he was told by a friend that I was a writer “sensitive enough” for this project. I immediately understood how delicate the intentions of Almaya were because their platform invites people to have conversations about spirituality, death, and love. The challenge excited me and we are still working together iterating to improve the product’s copy and creating new stories to engage with Amaya's users.
The Challenge: Almaya is a relatively new application for families to stay in touch by sharing intimate stories about their roots, knowledge, and memories. Using a voice and tone that was soft and friendly was key while creating Amaya’s vocabulary of concepts like “Legacy”, “Loved Ones”, and “Chosen Family”.
The Goal: Achieving a cohesive design strategy for Almaya, including copywriting style guide, UXW, product descriptions, explainer videos, mood boards, storyboards, and promos.
My Role: Bilingual content strategist, scrip writer, and storyboard designer.
The Result: Since Almaya is a new product with an innovative approach to relationships and families, we keep on working together to improve its vocabulary, descriptions, and content. You can see this video above and some examples of what we created below.
Why Does This Matter? As a content designer and user of Almaya, and as a person that lives far away from most of her family and friends, I think the most valuable things about Almaya are its intention of keeping families in touch and safeguarding their stories while providing high privacy standards.
